Gerard Way's Love/Hate Relationship
So, in between writing the next arc of his Eisner Award winning comic series The Umbrella Academy and appearing at the 2008 Scream Awards on Spike, Gerard Way is still working on songs for My Chemical Romance's follow up to their hit The Black Parade.

"Coffee, coffee, coffee, going' to get coffee..."
So, what can we expect from this album? More melodic rock like The Black Parade? A return to their rougher sound from Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge? An entire album about how very much in love Gerard Way is with his wife, Mindless Self Indulgence bassist Lyn-Z?
Well, it sounds like they've ruled at least two of those out?
Popeater did a write up about Gerard's recent comments, where he said the music "is full of hate." The slightly confusing article then went on to give us just a bit more info about the album...which Gerard has reportedly had titled since earlier this year, but, according to comments by Gerard's brother and the band's bassist Mikey Way, isn't even close to being released.
Here's what we know now:
Hmmm....that could go two ways. Either angry music about being happy with your place in the world, or music about wanting to watch the world burn. If it's the latter, maybe Gerard will be taking cues from friend/bandmate Frank Iero's side project, LeaTHERMOUTH?
How does this information make you feel about the next album?

Here's what we know now:
- As already mentioned, the album will NOT be 13 tracks of love songs. In fact, Gerard reportedly told his wife that the music was hateful, and she told him that was "'Cause you're happy." ...I guess in their marriage that makes sense?
- The album will be recorded live, which indicates a return to their sound from Three Cheers as opposed to Black Parade. "Over the years that we've been hearing ourselves live and hearing us on records, we kind of prefer the live," Way said. "There's more of a garage feel and more energy. I'd like to capture some of that, finally. That's the goal for the next one."
- Despite having left New Jersey for LA, Gerard will not be shifting the focus of his music to Hollywood and fame. "It's tempting to write about L.A., but you've seen so many record covers that have the Hollywood sign."
- And finally? "It's not going to be about trying to change the world. I can tell you that."
Hmmm....that could go two ways. Either angry music about being happy with your place in the world, or music about wanting to watch the world burn. If it's the latter, maybe Gerard will be taking cues from friend/bandmate Frank Iero's side project, LeaTHERMOUTH?
