Ashlee Simpson-Wentz Doesn't Want to Hear About Her Sister's Weight
Recent headlines have ripped into Jessica Simpson's weight, following several unflattering pictures surfacing from a recent performance. The pictures show Jessica looking like she's slightly heavier than previously, though some of that could possibly be blamed on the unflattering pair of jeans she's wearing.
The point is, sources such as US Magazine were labeling their online pictures with "simpson-fat-b," and even Fox News jumped on the bandwagon of discussing and picking apart Jessica's weight. And of course, they even had to pose the question "Is Jess preggers?" and then talk about her diet. And Jessica's sister, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, has had enough. In a Myspace blog, Ashlee ripped into the press, especially Fox News, for their concentration on the story. "I am completely disgusted by the headlines concerning my sister's weight. A week after the inauguration and with such a feeling of hope in the air for our country, I find it completely embarrassing and belittling to all women to read about a woman's weight or figure as a headline on Fox News." Ashlee also asks "How can we expect teenage girls to love and respect themselves in an environment where we criticize a size 2 figure?" Simpson-Wentz knows all too well what kind of damage can be done to a young woman when she's unable to love and respect herself: she struggled with an eating disorder in her youth. At 11 years old, Ashlee developed anorexia and at one point her weight was at roughly 70lbs. "All women come in different shapes, sizes, and forms," Ashlee includes in her blog, "and just because you're a celebrity, there shouldn't be a different standard." She ends the blog with something I'm sure many other people are saying as well: "Now can we focus on the things that really matter." Jessica Simpson's personal trainer has also spoken out about the criticisms of her weight, saying "We all go a little bit up and a little bit down - but she's healthy. She's still sexy. She's still a beautiful woman, and I have no problem with the way she looks." Interestingly enough, all of this talk about how "fat" Jessica is comes up at the same time as news that a company is suing Simpson's manager, her father Joe Simpson, over a 2005 work out DVD the Dukes of Hazard Star made, but then decided she was against releasing. Clips from the video can be seen here, and from the way it looks, Jessica or Joe, whoever made the final call to not release it, was probably right. What do you think about the sruntiny of Jessica Simpson's weight and her younger sister's defense?

January 27, 2009Check Out Cash Colligan's Blogizzle
Okay, so you're already reading the Tumblrs being updated by Pete Wentz, Travis McCoy, William Beckett and Panic at the Disco, right? Well, if not, go do that right now. And while you're at it, catch up with the latest Decaydance family member to start his own blog.
![]() Cash Colligan, bassist from The Cab, has set up a Tumblr-powered blog. Anyone who knows anything about Cash Money likely also knows about some of his more interesting tattoos. So it should come as no shock that the blog's url is taken from one of them. You can check out Cash's blogging, videos and updates at Thirtizzle.com. Who else on Decaydance, or, hey, on any music label, needs to start a personal blog like this?

Meet Patrick Stump, Mild-Mannered Reporter
I have yet to have anyone prove to me, definitively, that Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump is not a superhero. After all, when he's not hard at work as a triple threat in his own band (music writing, guitar playing and then there's that little matter of the man's effing VOICE) he's worked with artists such as Gym Class Heroes, The Hush Sound, Cobra Starship, The Cab, Misery Signals, Lupe Fiasco, Tyga and The Roots as a producer and more than occasionally a guest vocalist. He's created remixed versions of songs by Good Charlotte and The Cure for their respective Remix albums. He's also appeared on Law & Order and recently had a custom guitar released, the G5135P5 Stump-O-Matic Electromatic Signature Guitar.
![]() And Mr. Stump's recent announcement that he's about to delve into the field of journalism does nothing to quell my belief that he's got some kind of superpowers. After all, every crimefighter needs a secret identity and what better than a mild-mannered reporter? It works for Clark Kent and Peter Parker, why not for Patrick Vaughn Stump? Patrick announced on his official website that he will be writing music reviews for Rolling Stone Magazine, starting with their next issue. We know that he had hinted at this in a previous journal post, but had refrained from naming the publication or the nature of his journalistic opportunity for fear of jinxing it. And it appears to have paid off. Stump says he will be writing the reviews for "as long as they let me (so potentially a short time hahaha)." No idea what he'll be reviewing, but with Stump's ecclectic and informed taste in music it's safe to say his opinions should be interesting. So in the end, WHAT he's reviewing really won't matter in the long run. What's important is that Patrick confesses this is a dream come true. "I've wanted to write reviews for Rolling Stone since I was a little kid and it's rare that in one's life you get to live your two dream jobs (well, I am in a band, but I'm still not the drummer so I guess it's not exactly the job I dreamed of). Patrick asks fans to keep on the lookout for the reviews and to let him know what they think. I agree whole heartedly, but also ask you to share what you think about Patrick's journalist turn as well as what you believe his super powers are.

Pete Wentz Loves Animated Rabbits
We already knew that Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy is a huge fan of the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit? After all, his crush on the movie's sultry animated siren, Jessica Rabbit, was supposedly one of the motivating factors for his wife, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, when she dyed her hair red last year. But apparently, the video has influenced more in Pete's life than his wife's choice of haircolor.
![]() When speaking with MTV.com, Wentz mentioned that the Fall Out Boy video for "America's Suitehearts" is partially inspired by the 1988 film. And he's not just referring to both the movie and the video's technique of mixing animation and real life. He's also talking about a common theme in both. Of the video's theme, Wentz says "We have become a culture that really, really likes to build people up ... and we really do have this standard of morality that's insane, but [at the same time] we want to know what goes on behind closed doors. We want to shun celebrities and then build them back up. But it's going on in your neighborhood, too." What does this have to do with Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Well, those of you who haven't seen the film and don't want to be spoiled for a major reveal at the ending should probably stop reading, but here it goes: a great deal of the movie focuses on a character by the name of Judge Doom (Christopher Lloyd), who has a hatred for "toons," or animated characters that exist along side real people and are largely employed as actors. Doom has a compound called "The Dip" that is the only thing in the world capable of killing a 'toon: an acid that melts the creatures completely. He is obsessed with destroying the toons and their entire world...but in the end, it turns out Doom IS a toon. ![]() Pete's commentary on this is "...that is part of the narrative of 'America's Suitehearts' too. You have to point the finger back at yourself. When you're throwing people in the goo — you have to realize that you are the person who is scared to get in it." Iiiiinteresting. What do you think? Does anything else about the video become clear having found out this bit of information? Also, do you think Pete Wentz is correct when he says "But the Jolie-Pitts are smart, because they're building their own army so one day they'll just beat us?"

January 23, 2009Pete Wentz Writes for the Huffington PostThere are a lot of people who like to question Pete Wentz's intelligence. And honestly, the Fall Out Boy bassist and lyricist hasn't always made the best choices in some instances. But throughout the 2008 Presidential Campaign, Pete proved that when it comes to politics, he's no slouch. Read more...

Update: Katy Perry Still Kissing Humans
So, yesterday, it was reported that Katy Perry had taken a vow of celibacy for the year 2009. In the article on Buzznet, fans were warned that the comment was likely tongue-in-cheek, since Perry has announced she doesn't like talking about her private life. Also, because LULZ Katy Perry.
Well, as it turns out? The celibacy thing, much like Perry's bi-curiousity, was a joke. ![]() Katy's response to people jumping on her comment was "I am not going to be celibate. That was a joke, and any fine journalist would have got that. Please, celibacy for the whole year? I’d rather die." She went on to say "I'm a continual prankster and a jokester, and people forget that you have to interpret that if I'm telling a joke." This is not the first time Perry has felt her "humor" went unnoticed and unappreciated. Last year, she called herself "a skinnier version" of British artist Lily Allen. Perry later claimed that comment was just a joke, saying "Yeah, I made a joke about [that] earlier this year. I was just kind of joking and trying to be funny. I didn't mean anything by it. Comedians are not necessarily to be taken super seriously." Note for the future, Katy: when you basically call somebody "fat?" Saying "it was just a joke" really doesn't make anything better. Also? "Why so serious?" was the Joker's catchphrase, not yours. ![]() Back to the celibacy: to be fair, the fact that she followed up her celibacy comment with mention of kissing her cat? Really SHOULD have tipped off more people that she likely wasn't serious about it. And the press should by now be used to Katy saying/doing things like that. As I mentioned, the Buzznet article did contain a disclaimer that "we should probably assume this comment is tongue-in-cheek. After all, taking anything Katy Perry says (or sings) at face value, especially when it pertains to who she is or isn't kissing, hasn't been proven to be 100% accurate in the past." I stand by my point.

January 22, 2009Katy Perry Goes Celibate
There's always been questions from some of Katy Perry's critics over how often she REALLY kisses girls outside of her occasional on-stage same-sex-smooches. However, according to Perry, she doesn't plan on kissing anyone this year. Oh, really?

January 21, 2009Fall Out Boy Meets President Barack Obama, Helps Him Begin Acclimating
Fall Out Boy's lead guitarist's name is not, in fact, "Obama." But when Joe Trohman got to meet the newly inaugurated 44th President of the United States of America, that was the only name he could remember.
![]() Fall Out Boy had the chance to meet new President Barack Obama yesterday, the same day they rocked out at one of the multitude of Presidential Balls held in D.C. to celebrate President Obama's official swearing in as the Commander in Chief of the USA. However, when it came time to meet President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, the band wasn't quite sure of what was going on. In a video posted to MTV.com, Joe and lead singer Patrick Stump talk about the experience. Stump calls getting to meet President Obama "an honor." And of course, it's very nice of Joe to help President Obama get acclimated to his new title. "I just made sure to call him ‘president’ a lot. I’m sure he wants to hear that more now," he explains. Stump breaks in with "Yeah, he’s got to get used to hearing it." "Yeah, gotta get used to it...PRESIDENT!" Joe adds. I figure it's best to do the same. Here's to you, President Obama!

Everything's Coming Up Stump in 2009
Patrick Stump's 2009 may have started with THAT Blender article, which he's since commented on and asked fans to calm down about. But based on a new blog on his official website, it sounds like 2009 will be The Year of the Stump.
![]() First off, there's the obvious: Patrick will be touring with Fall Out Boy on the True Believers Never Die [Part Deux] Tour, announced yesterday. In case you hadn't heard, the tour also includes Cobra Starship, Metro Station, All Time Low and Hey Monday. Oh, and speaking of Cobra Starship, Patrick mentions that he "will be involved in some way with the next Cobra Starship album, as well as the Cab's next record." Patrick, of course, produced Cobra's last album, Viva La Cobra, and had worked with The Cab on Whisper War, lending his guest vocals to "One of THOSE Nights." He also mentions a few other production gigs that he is remaining mysterious about, so keep your eyes and ears open. Patrick Stump as a producer can literally pop up anywhere, from hip hop to experimental indie rock. Plus, Patrick's got news on his short film The Moustachette. I've been dragging my feet about the whole thing because I was having a hard time letting go of control of the edit. This is my first film (albiet a short) and I feel perhaps my lesson is that films are kind of like as assembly line. Everyone involved has a job and one guy can't attempt to run every station telling everyone how to do said job. As a result, I think it's pertinent that I clarify some things. I directed the film (though it is my first direction and therefor was aided heavily by Assistant director Tobin Nageotte) and I act in it. As for my writing credit, initially I would say that I fleshed out the story but over time it's plot and purpose have changed considerably (as I'm sure films are supposed to do) and it is no longer "My" story. That credit would go to Tobin and my step-brother and producer on the film, Paul Klinke (I supposed with a little help from me). Anyway, it's all the better for that realization and now I'm finally able to approve a finished edit so it will be out shortly. To keep up with news on THAT artistic endeavor, make sure to join Buzznet's Moustachette group. Anything else from the Talented Mr. Stump? Well, he does hint at breaking some new ground: journalism. "I also have a very big journalism job that (as long as I don't screw up) should be moving along shortly (this is such big news for an aside but I really don't want to jinx it)." Because of the mysteriousness of the blurb, we don't know the details yet, but I'm sure they'll be forthcoming when the time is right. Finally, Patrick would like you to see his equipment. I meant his signature guitar, you perverts! So, what else could we possibly see from Patrick Vaughn Stump this year? Any suggestions of what you'd like to see him do? Maybe someone you'd like to see him produce for? And does this mean we'll finally get a real look at this fine publication?

January 15, 2009Fall Out Boy Announce Headlining Spring Tour
Yesterday, Breesays and I were lamenting the lack of Pete Wentz's presence on the internet. And it looks like someone must have heard us (Pete, do you stalk our IM's or something?) because this morning we got some excellent news: not only has Pete updated his blog at Friends or Enemies, but his post heralded the announcement of a new Fall Out Boy headling tour. "i am most excited to announce “believers never die (part deux)” finally
back to where we were, back in the united states this spring"
![]() And now, we have some more information on the tour. While Fall Out Boy will headline, they will be joined on the tour by Cobra Starship, All Time Low, Metro Station and Hey Monday. Not a shabby concert, huh? In his blog, Pete promised "we will be playing mid sized venues. but we want to bring the biggest show possible." Dear MTV: Please to Be Laying Off of Katy Perry's Love Life
Yesterday, Katy Perry made a statement in her Buzznet blog that she did not talk about her personal life or relationships. Which is only fair, because even if she's a Grammy nominated, chart topping musician, she's still a human being and really shouldn't feel obligated to explain, excuse or even talk about the break-up unless she really wants to.
![]() However, since Perry's sudden split with Travis McCoy of the Gym Class Heroes, it seems like that's all people want to talk about with her. And today, MTV went over the top in an article that was supposed to be about Katy's Grammy nomination and upcoming "Hello Katy" tour. The video that accompanies the article isn't the problem. The interviewer approaches the question as best as I could assume MTV would, simply asking if Katy and Travis were on good terms and if they had spoken (HUGE HINT MTV: Add Travie's blog to your RSS feed. That should give you an idea of what kind of terms he's on with Katy right now). However, the article is single minded in it's focus. Yeah, yeah, we said that already — but what about you and Travis? What went wrong? Oh, that’s cool, you have a tour coming up. That should be fun — but have you spoken to Travis lately? How’s he doing? Yeah, 2008 was a big year for you. “I Kissed a Girl,” blah, blah, blah — but are you working on any Travis songs? Will we see that on your next record? Yeah, the Grammys. I bet they’ll be a blast — but will it be hard not having Travis by your side? Do you know who you’re going to bring instead? Oh. So I guess we’re not going to talk about Travis then … Of course she's not going to talk about Travis! Has no one yet gotten the hint that Katy does not want to talk about what happened with her and Mr. McCoy? No? Well, take this as your hint then: Katy has a huge 2009 already slated. Huge tour, Grammy nomination, Grammy performance and supposedly a new album in the works. She is one of the top young women in music today. And all you want to talk about is her recent breakup? Seriously? It's not just annoying on a "leave her personal life alone" level, it's also annoying on a "is that really all you want to focus on" level. Seriously, I don't even like Katy Perry's music but I see a huge problem with interviewers focusing less on that and more on who she is or isn't dating. Yes, I'm sure that the relationship is going to influence her music and at least one song about the breakup is probably unavoidable, but at the same time, odds are Travis is already penning a song about his side of the story for the next Gym Class Heroes album. But both of these people, Travis and Katy, exist outside of each other and their relationship. While I'm sure the breakup is one their minds because it happened so recently, it doesn't mean that's all their thinking about. It doesn't mean that's all they want to talk about. It just means it happened to them, the same way it happens to everyone else in the world. More importantly: if there's something Katy Perry won't talk about in order to get more famous (she has declared that she'll do "anything for attention"), maybe that should be taken as a hint that she's drawn a serious line there.

LeATHERMOUTH CD Release Show
If you know anything about Frank Iero, you'll know that he loves the state of New Jersey. So it's fitting that Iero's band, LeATHERMOUTH, is celebrating the release of their debut album, XO, in the heart of the Garden State.
![]() LeATHERMOUTH has announced that they will be performing a CD release show at Vintage Vinyl in Fords, NJ. According to the bulletin sent out by Skeleton Crew on Myspace and an identical blog on the official LeATHERMOUTH Myspace, the show is "last minute," but that doesn't mean it won't be an awesome evening. The show will be held on January 27th, starting "at 7PM sharp." Want to attend? You can head here for all of the details (scroll down to "Upcoming Instore Events"), but I'll tell you right now that you're going to have to preorder the CD in order to get into the show. New My Chemical Romance Song Available for Pre-Order on Vinyl
It looks like as much as My Chemical Romance fans can't wait to get their hands on some new music, those boys from Jersey (and Chicago) can't wait to get new music to us as well. Because it looks like we'll be getting a new song a little earlier than originally planned.
![]() Kerrang and Buzznet had both reported that the limited edition vinyl picture disc of My Chemical Romance's cover of Bob Dylan's "Desolation Row" would not be released until February 9th. However, according to a new blog entry on My Chem's official site, you can now preorder the vinyl, which should arrive on or around January 27th, more than a week earlier than we had been previously promised! We already know that "Desolation Row" will play a major role close to the end of the film. So it's fitting that the B-side for the release is "Prison Fight" an instrumental piece by Tyler Bates. For those of you who haven't read the Watchmen graphic novel (and I truly, truly suggest you do if you haven't already. It's fairly easy to get your hands on these days because of the upcoming film and is an amazing story), one of the bigger action sequences involves a prison break-out that turns into a major fight. And don't forget, My Chemical Romance has filmed a video for Desolation Row! No word on when it'll premier, but until then you can check out some awesome pictures of the gang on My Chemical Freak! How awesome is all of this? Oh, and out of pure curiousity, how many of you have read Watchmen already?

January 12, 2009Vanessa Hudgens Getting Hairy in 'New Moon?'
Move over, vampires. It seems like it's all about the werewolves these days.
After all, just last week news came in that Taylor Lautner will be reprising his role as Jacob Black in New Moon, the upcoming sequel to last year's movie Twilight. And fans rejoiced. But now, People.com is reporting that Vanessa Hudgens, the star of Disney's uber-successful High School Musical franchise, may be joining the gang in Forks, WA. ![]() Hudgens has reportedly auditioned for the role of lone female werewolf Leah Clearwater. The report apparently comes from Ashley "Alice Cullen" Green, who indicated that she thinks Hudgens would be "great" for the role. And it would certainly be a switch for Vanessa, what with the fact that New Moon would be less singing and dancing and more, well, dazzle. Hudgens at least seems to be appropriate physically for the role According to the Twilight Saga Wiki, "Leah is described as beautiful in an exotic way. She has perfect copper skin, glistening black hair, and eyelashes 'like feather dusters.'" However, Vanessa may have to stand on boxes or wear lifts, since at 5' 3" she's a bit shorter than the 6' 1" Leah. Do you think Hudgens would be a good fit for the role? How would you feel about her joining the cast?

The Sweet Smell of Cinema!
So, for those of you who haven't heard (since the news is a little bit dated...but stay with me on this), they've released a Twilight perfume. Yes, in a long line of move tie in products, which also includes Edward Cullen body glitter (I cannot make this stuff up, folks), they have released a freesia and lavender scented perfume in an apple-shaped bottle. Sniff, sniff...

So, with New Moon's release now only 11 months away, fans have been waiting earnestly to find out what will happen with the role of Jacob Black. Gerard Way Blogs: Auctioning Off Umbrella Academy Goods and Sketch for Charity
I'm sure most of you who read anything I write on My Chemical Romance here are also devoted followers of the blogs the band members post to their official website. But just in case you missed this one, I thought I'd pimp it out a little more. After all, it's for a good cause.
![]() Gerard Way has posted a blog letting fans know that he, his wife and several other friends have come together to set up charity auctions for a friend battling cancer. Gerard says there are multiple auctions "including some really rare MSI cd's, and some original art by my wonderful wife that appeared in the Projekt Revolution "Revolution Unseen" art book." But Gerard's contribution to the listings is a score for any fan of his or just of his comic, The Umbrella Academy. The lot contains a sighed copy of the Umbrella Academy Apocalypse Suite Hardcover Edition, and also includes one of Gerard's hand drawn sketches of Spaceboy, one of the series' stars. You can bid on the auction by clicking here. You can find all of the items up for auction here. All of them are set to run for roughly the next week. And Gerard? Should you by some ridiculous chance stumble across this blog? "Blogosphere" is indeed the correct, if outdated, term. You're getting old, buddy. Try to keep up with times.

Mayday Parade to Premier New Music Video Tomorrow!
Mayday Parade recently said that they're working on material for a new album, but it looks like they've one last bit of business to attend to in regards to the 2007 debut album A Lesson in Romantics. Can you say "new music video?"
![]() The video for the song "Miserable at Best" will debut tomorrow, January 9th, on Mayday Parade's official Myspace. The video looks like it will be timed perfectly for the winter season, since there's shots of the band in a snowy forest. It will also follow several couples going through different sorts of break-ups. Need something to carry you through the next 24 or so hours? Then check out this "Making Of" video from Youtube! Ready for the new video? And am I the only one getting a very "Long December" vibe from this video?

Youtube Doesn't Want Your Guilty Pleasure
Remember that awesome "home video" Cobra Starship put together for their single "Guilty Pleasure?" And how awesome it was? Well, in case you don't, I wanted to link you to Youtube, but unfortunately I can't do that anymore.
![]() Because, as Absolute Punk has reported, Youtube has removed the "Guilty Pleasure" video due to "a copyright claim from a third party." And now, upon further research, it appears that the behind the scenes "making of" video AND the Spanish Language version of the song were also removed. You can check it all out for yourself on Fueled By Ramen's official Cobra Starship video playlist here. No word on why these have been removed as of yet, but knowing Cobra we'll have some kind of statement on the situation. Possibly with some colorful language. Unless Gabe Saporta's too busy Twittering and chilling down in Uruguay and rehabbing his "homosexual" voice to care about some Youtube related BS. What do you say about the video removals? Anyone out there got any inside information that might make this tragedy make sense? Maybe an indepth report from Mr. Guy Ripley, BBC? Related Groups:

Want to Catch a William Beckett Acoustic Set?
Did you somehow not manage to get enough William Beckett in your 2008? Between numerous tours with The Academy Is..., including a mainstage gig at the 2008 Vans Warped Tour and the rocking "Bill and Trav's Bogus Journey Tour" with We the Kings, the release of the new The Academy Is... album Fast Times at Barrington High, the video for About a Girl, oh, yeah, and the wailing and gnashing of teeth when he cut that god-like mane of hair, it seems like that wasn't really possible to do. But just in case...

Want To Sing Onstage With Katy Perry?
Fear not: even though Katy Perry and Travis McCoy have broken up, there is good news. Because now, you might have the chance to lock lips with Ms. Perry herself onstage at the Grammy Awards!
Just don't expect her to call you back the next day. After all, you are just an experimental phase. ![]() Katy Perry: dives into cakes, but is only willing to flirt with pie. Still interested? Well, then head over to the Official Website to enter the "My Grammy Moment" contest. Simply upload a 30 to 60 second video of yourself singing Perry's earworm "I Kissed a Girl" (cherry chapstick optional) between now and February 8th for a chance to perform onstage with Katy on the live Grammy Telecast. Oh, and in case you need to see the deal sweetened a little more? You also win $5,000. Winners will be determined via fan voting so if you do enter be sure to pimp your video out if you want a chance to sing with Katy. Oh, and ladies, and I'll give you bonus points if you slip her the tongue onstage. And maybe grope her a bit. Look, if you're gonna kiss girls, you'd better be damn well ready for one of them to kiss back like they mean it. Even if it's not what good girls do, not how they should behave. That's all I'm trying to say here. So what do you say? Anybody out there interested in appearing on stage with the world's foremost faux bisexual? Planning on entering? Anything else on your mind? Leave a comment!

January 3, 2009Gerard Way Gives Fans More of What To Expect From the New Album
My Chemical Romance is supposedly headed back to the studio sometime soon ("after the holidays" is how they put it before) in order to record their fourth studio album.
